Ever looked at Leonardo Da-vinci's paintings and thought Wow, but if only he adds a little imagination to them.. And then looked at Picasso's paintings and thought Wow, but if only he adds a little reality to them? you have?? - Well i have too!.. I found Dali :) he has a little bit of both in his work!
As Dali once said, that he draws his paintings out of his dreams..
Dreams are often mixed up and messy! his dreams are
TOO messed up, and yet are sort of clear..but that's the beauty of it! And as for the meaning of his art-work..that is up to each of us to decide, and judge from our point of view what we thinks it means -- but you'll soon give up as they are unexplainable and yet very intriguingly appealing and worth the time to "try" and interpret :)
